Local Cleaning Companies Share PBS’ Passion for Cancer Patients

PBS CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF HELPING CANCER PATIENTS
Newtown Square, PA – February 3, 2021 – Professional Building Services (PBS), Inc. is committed to providing exceptional janitorial cleaning services to their customers and clients. This commitment to excellence extends into the community in which they operate and has prompted their 10-year relationship with Cleaning for a Reason, a nonprofit that provides no cost home cleaning services to cancer patients.
PBS first learned about Cleaning for a Reason at the ISSA cleaning industry tradeshow in 2011 and really hit the ground running. Instead of simply sponsoring the organization through a monetary contribution, PBS Sales Manager Patty Hilferty set out to make as big of a local splash as possible. Since a corporate sponsor cannot actively clean the patients’ homes, PBS recruited businesses across Chester and Delaware County that could. During the first year of their sponsorship, PBS recruited and sponsored four local residential cleaning companies, who were able to help ease the burden of more than a dozen cancer patients.
At the start of 2012, Kathleen Albertson, PBS Business Developer, took over sponsorship duties. In only a few short months, Albertson had not only successfully recruited four additional cleaning companies to serve cancer patients in their community, but had also branched out to network with other local cancer charities to spread the mission of Cleaning for a Reason.
Since 2011, PBS has sponsored eight cleaning companies that have supported a total of 259 cancer patients with a donated value of $83,318 in cleanings. PBS subsidizes the cleaning companies for their commitment to Cleaning for a Reason. As on ongoing service throughout the year, the sponsored companies commit to supporting two cancer patients’ homes each month for two consecutive months.
