Ipswich Cleaning Company Sweeps Away the Burden for Neighbors Battling Cancer
Ipswich, MA — June 24, 2026 — When Patricia and Ricardo DaSilva stood before the Ipswich Select Board on May 20 to receive a formal commendation for their business, All In A Touch Cleaning, Patricia wasn’t focused on the plaque or the praise. Instead, she was thinking about her staff.
“Alone I would have a job but, with this dream team, I have a business that allows us to give back to our community in a meaningful way,” DaSilva said. “Our cleaning technicians, our office staff — they all deserve this so much. They embraced this project from day one.”
The “project” is a deeply personal partnership with Cleaning for a Reason, a nonprofit organization that matches cleaning services with individuals undergoing cancer treatment to provide free home cleanings.
For the DaSilvas, the initiative is rooted in family history. In 2022, Patricia’s mother was diagnosed with kidney cancer.
“Through that experience, Ricardo and I saw firsthand how physically and emotionally exhausting cancer treatment can be,” DaSilva said. “Everyday tasks like cleaning often become overwhelming. Yet, having a clean, calm, and organized home can make such a meaningful difference during a difficult time.”
Inspired by that journey, the family-owned business officially joined the nonprofit network in 2023 to support families across the Ipswich and North Shore communities.
For cancer patients, particularly those who are immunocompromised, a sanitized living space is a medical necessity rather than a household luxury. The Select Board’s commendation highlighted this impact, noting that a safe environment provides “necessary relief, comfort, and peace of mind.”
To accommodate medical sensitivities, the All In A Touch Cleaning team follows strict protocols, consults clients on product preferences, and addresses specific household concerns.
“We aim to provide them not just a clean home, but give them the gift of time so they can focus on their health,” DaSilva said.
The emotional weight of that gift is felt clearly by the company’s clientele. DaSilva recalled a recent cleaning where a local client, facing a particularly grueling week of treatments, burst into tears as the crew finished.
“She said that it was like a weight was lifted off her shoulders,” DaSilva recalled. “Stories like this remind us that this is our ‘why.’”
The tangible impact of the program extends across the region. Sulata Paul, a Gloucester resident who received two free cleanings through the program, praised the team’s professionalism and care during a difficult period.
For other recipients, the service has proven even more vital. Amanda Goodwin of Andover was facing a terminal Stage 4 melanoma diagnosis and the daunting task of preparing her home for sale due to an inability to work.
“Cleaning for a Reason came into my life when I was deeply struggling,” Goodwin said. “I simply couldn’t have gotten the work done without this service. It saved energy I did not have, which I know contributed to saving my life and now going from stage 4 melanoma to undetectable disease status.”
With formal recognition from the Town of Ipswich now under their belt, the DaSilvas and their team plan to continue their partnership, sweeping away a bit of the burden for local families when they need it most.
North Shore residents currently navigating cancer treatment can apply for free cleanings through cleaningforareason.org. Neighbors can also reach out to the team at All In A Touch Cleaning directly by visiting allinatouch.com or by calling 978-815-2777.
