Bryan, Texas (KBTX) – November 3, 2025 – A cancer diagnosis can turn a person’s world upside down. But there’s an organization that’s helping patients during treatment.
Cleaning for a Reason is a nonprofit that provides free residential cleaning to those battling cancer.
Since its founding in Texas in 2006, Cleaning for a Reason and its partners have provided free home cleaning for more than 60,000 cancer patients and their families across all 50 states and Canada.
Any woman, man, or child in active cancer treatment is eligible for their services.
Jen and Gene Curtiss are the owners of MaidPro of Bryan/College Station, which partners with the nonprofit.
For Jen, the cause is personal.
“I had an aunt who had gone through cancer treatments and had been taken care of by Cleaning for a Reason,” Jen explained. “So when we opened our business, we wanted to pay in forward and take care of people in the Brazos Valley.”
The gift of house cleaning isn’t just about tidiness — it’s an essential services that promotes better health, reduces stress, and creates a sanctuary of peace, according to Cleaning for a Reason.
“To be able to provide that service, to take that weight off their mind when they’re dealing with something as traumatic as that — it’s really a blessing for us to be able to do it,” Gene added.
You can fill out the application for yourself, or on behalf of someone you know undergoing cancer treatment who has agreed to receive Cleaning for a Reason’s services.
A patient can receive up to two free home cleanings (one cleaning per month).
