Mom’s Mop Helps Lighten the Load for Cancer Patients

Mentor, OH — September 9, 2026 — Sometimes, the smallest act of kindness can stay with a family forever. For Mom’s Mop owner Krissy Staton, one such act came at a time when her family needed it most.
A few years ago, Staton’s son was diagnosed with NMDA encephalitis, a rare autoimmune brain disorder, and spent months in a coma. During that overwhelming time, two cleaning companies stepped in to help keep her family’s home in order.
“That kindness meant more to us than we can ever explain,” said Staton. “We never forgot what it felt like to have one less thing to worry about during one of the hardest times of our lives.”
Now, through Mom’s Mop, Staton is paying that kindness forward.
Mom’s Mop, a locally owned, family-operated cleaning company serving Mentor, Cleveland West, Solon, Columbus, and surrounding Ohio communities, partnered with Cleaning for a Reason on September 3, 2026, to provide complimentary home cleaning services to local cancer patients.
Through the partnership, Mom’s Mop will support up to two cancer patients each month with two consecutive months of complimentary professional home cleaning.
“We know firsthand what it means when someone steps in and takes something off your shoulders,” Staton said. “We’re grateful to now offer that same gift to cancer patients and their families when cleaning should be the last thing on their minds.”
As Cleaning for a Reason celebrates 20 years of supporting cancer patients, partnerships with dedicated cleaning companies like Mom’s Mop continue to extend the organization’s reach and bring practical support directly into the homes of families facing cancer.
Cancer patients of any age, gender, or type of cancer can apply to receive complimentary home cleaning services at cleaningforareason.org.
