Lafayette, Colorado – For Lafayette’s Natalie Mikishko, owner of Majestic Domestics and Clean Conscience cleaning services, her partnership with the nonprofit Cleaning for a Reason is as personal as it gets.
Mikishko was diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time in August. She described this second battle as more aggressive and challenging. She said she understands that in the chaos of going to cancer treatments, doctor’s appointments and handling sick days, a cleaning service alleviates cancer patients from the sometimes-daunting and taxing task of maintaining a clean home.
“A nice, clean house is such a help,” Mikishko said.
As a result, Mikishko and Majestic Domestics teamed up with Cleaning for a Reason to provide free cleaning services to cancer patients while helping to raise funds for cancer awareness. After the two monthly cleanings provided with Cleaning for a Reason, Majestic Domestics also offers reduced cleaning rates for cancer patients for ongoing cleaning.
“We are service providers that have extreme compassion for families that are going through this really challenging, difficult time, and we hope to restore faith in their current situation. There’s hope, and there’s faith, and there’s a light at the end of the tunnel,” Mikishko said.
Majestic Domestics is also donating a portion of its proceeds during October to Cleaning for a Reason as well as accepting direct donations to give to the organization.
Mikishko is hoping to raise an extra $5,000 in support.
Majestic Domestics has been partnering with Cleaning for a Reason for six years, so when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021 it further fueled her to continue helping other cancer patients.
Mikishko started Majestic Domestics in 2011 by herself when she first moved to Boulder County. She said that when she lived in Los Angeles, she had a cleaning person who helped make her life easier.
“When I moved here, I wanted to extend (the cleaning service) to other busy individuals who needed an extra set of hands to take one thing off their list of to-dos for the weekend, and that’s cleaning their place,” Mikishko.
She explained she calls her cleaners “day makers,” because many clients express gratitude about being able to have one less stressful task and come home to a clean house.
“Cleaning is difficult; it’s grimy, you get sweaty, it’s not glamorous,” Mikishko said.
One of her company’s main values, she said, is service, in providing a good finished product and giving back to the community.
