Two-Time Breast Cancer Survivor and Business Owner Continues Giving Back

LOCAL CLEANING COMPANY HAS A HEART FOR CANCER
Hamilton, ON – April 23, 2021 – A local business owner is a two-time breast cancer survivor and remains committed to using her company to help other cancer patients. For the past six years, Three Little Birds has been partnered with Cleaning for a Reason, a nonprofit serving those in cancer treatment through the gift of a clean home.
Since 2015, Three Little Birds has helped a total of 39 cancer patients with donated house cleanings valued at $18,558. Through partnership with Cleaning for a Reason, Three Little Birds cleans at least three cancer patients’ homes per month for two consecutive months free of charge. This is an ongoing service to cancer patients residing in the Hamilton area. Not even cancer stopped this business from giving.
“In 2012, I was motivated to open Three Little Birds after being diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 41,” said owner Sherry Weavers. “While this was terrifying, I was determined to show my children, my three little birds, that we would not be defeated by my diagnosis, but rather come out stronger and in a position to help others.”
In 2016, after being in remission for four years, Weavers’ cancer had returned. Weavers stepped out of the business for six months of treatment. She knew she had an extremely competent team, who could keep things running, including their charitable cleanings, in her absence.
“I had a full mastectomy and reconstruction surgery,” Weavers said. “I just stepped away and the staff took over. I was awed by their caring and support and their determination to continue making a difference for those in need.” Weavers returned to her company, cancer free, with plans to grow the business. “In a few years, I hope to add a new location led by existing staff, while expanding our philanthropy,” said Weavers. “I’ve learned, there’s always room to keep dreaming.”
