Merry Maids of Tucson Pays It Forward to Cancer Patients

LOCAL COMPANY MAKING A DIFFERENCE DURING COVID-19
Tucson, AZ – October 2, 2020 – Merry Maids of Tucson has been donating cleaning services to cancer patients for the past four years through their partnership with Cleaning for a Reason, a nonprofit supporting cancer households. For personal reasons, owners Keith and Sue Sutterley are committed to making a difference for local cancer patients and their families.
“We started the partnership with Cleaning for a Reason as a way to give back to the community,” said Keith Sutterley. “The partnership became personal and especially meaningful when my wife Brenda Sue was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. We learned the importance of being flexible to adapt to each cancer patient’s needs and schedules. Our understanding of what the cancer patient was going through also helped us to make important changes to our offerings that were suitable for the overall health of our clients.”
Since 2016, Merry Maids of Tucson has helped 21 cancer patients with total donated cleanings valued at $6,993. Through partnership with Cleaning for a Reason, Merry Maids of Tucson assists cancer patients by cleaning two homes per month for two consecutive months free of charge. This is an ongoing service to cancer patients residing in Tucson and the surrounding areas, including Green Valley. Sahuarita, Vail, Corona De Tucson, Saddlebrook, Marana, and Oro Valley.
Keith Sutterley emphasized, “We have also been adapting to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic by providing sanitizing services for both homes and businesses, and especially for the cancer patients we serve who are immune-compromised. We have donated much needed items, like hand sanitizer, toilet paper, and paper towels, to those sheltering in place. We also follow CDC guidelines to wear masks and gloves and practice social distancing when cleaning in a home.”
