FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CLEANING, SANITIZING, & DISINFECTING DURING COVID-19

Reading, PA – May 12, 2020 – Merry Maids of Reading has been donating cleaning services to cancer patients for the past four years through its partnership with Cleaning for a Reason, a nonprofit serving cancer households through the gift of clean. Since 2016, Merry Maids of Reading has helped a total of 25 cancer patients with donated cleanings valued at $12,869.

“We believe firmly that your well-being starts at home,” said owner Donna Partin. “We have been honored to take care of the home, while cancer patients focus on their recovery and family. During the COVID-19 crisis, we are committed to helping our clients, especially the cancer patients, keep their homes clean and healthy. We are providing house cleaning service, disinfection service, or both, depending on the client’s needs.”

Partin emphasized, “We are using a disinfectant certified by the EPA to fight coronaviruses. The following steps have been added to fight the virus:

• Disinfect our Merry Maids cleaning kit and equipment before entering a home
• Wear gloves, masks, eye protection, and shoe covers before entering a home and while cleaning
• Provide increased attention to high-touch surfaces in a home
• Apply an Enhanced Disinfection service, using products that are EPA-approved for treating emerging pathogens. This service can be applied to a home several times per week if desired. This service is also available for small businesses (retail, doctors and dentist offices, etc.), who may be required by county health departments to do this a certain number of times per day while they are open.

Through partnership with Cleaning for a Reason, Merry Maids of Reading works with cancer patients to clean two homes per month for two consecutive months free of charge. This will be an ongoing service to cancer patients residing in Berks County.
