LOCAL CLEANING COMPANY CONTINUES MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Elmhurst, IL – May 20, 2026 – Helping Hands Cleaning Services of Elmhurst is marking a significant milestone: supporting its 100th cancer patient through its partnership with the nonprofit Cleaning for a Reason.
In 2008, Helping Hands Cleaning Services joined Cleaning for a Reason, which connects cancer patients with local cleaning companies that provide free home cleaning services. Since then, the company has donated cleaning services to 100 patients, valued at $33,633.
“Reaching 100 cancer patients through our partnership with Cleaning for a Reason means so much to us,” said Gosia Baran, owner of Helping Hands. “Cleaning is about more than what looks clean—it’s about each family’s health and comfort. Being able to provide peace of mind to families during such a challenging time is incredibly rewarding.”
“I started Helping Hands 24 years ago with nothing but a belief that cleaning deserved to be done right,” Baran continued. “Not rushed. Not faked. Done with real training, real standards, and genuine care for the families on the other side of the door. Today, our trained professionals show up with the same faces and the same standards every visit.”
For individuals battling cancer, everyday household tasks can feel overwhelming. Helping Hands’ donated cleanings allow patients to focus on their recovery while coming home to a clean, healthy space.
“Care doesn’t stop at the hospital or a cancer center,” said Baran. “It continues at home—in the air we breathe, the spaces we move through, the place where we recover. Even the smallest acts of care—clean floors, sparkling kitchens and bathrooms, folded laundry—can help someone feel seen, safe, and supported during a season of struggle.”
Helping Hands Cleaning Services continues to operate on the same values on which it was founded: no subcontractors, consistent care, and cleaning practices that support both the appearance and health of the home. Every visit is a reminder that supporting cancer patients is not just about cleaning—it’s about showing up for families when they need it most.
“Reaching 100 patients served is a powerful reflection of Gosia Baran’s commitment to her community,” said Lucy Lee, Program Manager for Cleaning for a Reason. “Dedicated partners like Gosia make it possible for us to help even more families facing cancer, giving them the gift of peace of mind when they need it most.”
As Cleaning for a Reason celebrates 20 years of impact, partnerships like this continue to expand its reach—bringing practical relief and support to cancer patients across North America.
