Cleaning With a Purpose: How a Local Couple Was Inspired by Cancer in Creating Their Business

Parkland, FL – January 29, 2026 – Michael and Nicole Jobe had dreamed for years of becoming entrepreneurs. The couple had always talked about their plan to build a business, but it was a personal experience that inspired and guided their direction when the time came to begin. They had a heart for people in need and were walking through a difficult season with Michael’s grandmother, who had received a very difficult cancer diagnosis.
“We decided on opening a cleaning franchise after visiting a business fair in Miami,” said Michael. “One of the things that appealed to us about Two Maids was there was a lot of freedom offered and we could build a business model that helps to support the community.”
When the Jobes opened their Two Maids Cleaning franchise on Wiles Road, they were motivated by more than the opportunity to run a successful small business. Entrepreneurship was a way to serve their community, uplift local workers, and turn personal hardship into something that could make a lasting difference for others. Their company provides professional residential cleaning services to homeowners across the area, but Michael and Nicole say the business is built on a larger purpose. From the start, they wanted to create a workplace that gives people stability, flexibility, and the chance to grow.
“We did not just want to own a business,” Michael said. “We wanted to build something that could help people, both our customers and the people who work for us.”
Their outlook was inspired by Michael’s personal experience walking through cancer with his grandmother. It began immediately after graduating from college, as he moved in with his grandmother after she was diagnosed with cancer. Having already beaten breast cancer once, she made the difficult decision not to go through treatment again. Michael, just 22 years old at the time, became her caretaker for the final five months of her life.
“I do not think I fully grasped the responsibility I took on,” he said. “But I know without a doubt I would not trade those five months for anything. I was there for her during some of the toughest days of her life, but it was not all bad. We spent so much time together and made memories that I will carry forever. It was a strange mix of sadness, but also a lot of love and joy.”

That experience stayed with him, and years later it became a driving force behind how the Jobes run their business. Through their Two Maids franchise, they partner with Cleaning for a Reason, a national nonprofit that provides free home cleanings for individuals undergoing cancer treatment.
“When we learned we could be part of Cleaning for a Reason, it was one of the easiest decisions we have ever made,” Michael said. “All I could think about was what my grandma went through. If someone is dealing with cancer, any amount of help is a blessing. A clean house is not just about how it looks, it is about physical and mental health. If Nicole and I can help someone feel even a small amount of peace during such a hard time, then we should do it.”
The Jobes have also extended that commitment beyond their own clients by supporting Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event. Their Two Maids location participates in local Relay For Life efforts, helping raise awareness and funds to support cancer research, patient services, and advocacy.
“Relay For Life is about honoring survivors, remembering those we have lost, and fighting back,” Nicole said. “Cancer affects so many families, including ours. Being involved is another way we can stand with our community and show that we care.”
Along with their charitable efforts, the Jobes are focused on making Two Maids Cleaning a place where local workers can thrive. The company’s performance-based pay model allows employees to earn more based on the quality of their work, giving team members a direct path to higher income and advancement.
“We want this to be more than just a job for our team,” Michael said. “We want it to be an opportunity something that can help people get ahead, support their families, and feel proud of what they do.”
From cleaning homes to supporting families battling cancer, the Jobes see every part of their business as connected to a bigger mission.
“Our community supports us, so we believe it is our responsibility to give back,” Michael said. “Whether it is through our employees, our customers, Cleaning for a Reason, or Relay For Life, we are here to help people live better, even when times are tough.”
