Cleaning for a Reason partners with Two Maids to bring relief to those battling cancer.
The dreaded phrase “you have cancer” is something we all hope never to share a personal connection with or have a loved one face. However, cancer is something that impacts millions of people each day. A cancer diagnosis can quickly change someone’s life, mainly their day-to-day focus, responsibilities, and capabilities, while also exacting a heavy emotional toll. In this landscape, Cleaning for a Reason emerges as a beacon of support, offering invaluable free at-home clean- ing services to those undergoing cancer treatments.
Creating a clean and comforting home environment proves instrumental in alleviating the weight of household tasks, enabling patients to place their focus on personal well-being. A landmark collaboration with Two Maids, our esteemed Elite Corporate Franchise Partner in 2023, amplifies Cleaning for a Reason’s ability to extend essential at-home cleanings to those in need.
Sandy Wolfrum, ISSA Charities’ director of development, emphasizes, “Two Maids already operates in over 100 territories across the United States, and with their visionary outlook, they are set to extend their reach to encompass more than 300 additional territories for future development. This partnership is prepared to meet the growing demand for services among cancer patients across the country, ensuring more locations are ready to help with this important cause.”

Since 2013, Two Maids franchises have been dedicated to the community, giving free cleanings worth US$639,501 to 1,956 cancer patients. This year, with this new partnership, Two Maids not only encourages all their franchises to provide home cleanings to patients, but they’re also firmly committed to raising $10,000 by the end of 2023.
Two Maids and a Purpose
Two Maids is a customer service cleaning company that uses innovative technology to provide upfront pricing and online scheduling for customers. The franchise’s pay-for-performance system sets it apart from competitors, allowing customers to rank their maid service. This ranking directly determines what housekeepers earn on each job, ensuring you receive an exceptional job every time.
In 2016, the owners of seven Two Maids locations, Mari Millard, and Marnie Hammel, jumped at the opportunity to partner their first location in Rockville, MD, with Cleaning for a Reason. Millard, who lost her spouse to cancer at age 28, shared a personal connection to Cleaning for a Reason and understood the difficulties of maintaining a home while being a full-time caregiver to her loved one. Millard and Hammel knew this collaboration would allow more cancer patients to receive free at-home cleaning donations and relieve additional stress on their loved ones.
“We have been working with Cleaning for a Reason for seven years and have donated over 300 cleanings to cancer patients not only in Rockville, MD, but also in Marriottsville, MD; Washington, D.C.; Hilton Head, SC; and Alexandria, Chantilly, and Fairfax, VA. I also did an independent fundraiser for my first ever Ironman and raised $2K directly for Cleaning for a Reason in 2019,” said Hammel, “Both Mari and I have lost people to cancer, and we know how much having one thing off your plate means. As a women-owned business, we especially love giving back to the women in our community.”
Millard added, “We’re excited about the corporate office forging a partnership with the nonprofit, nurturing a culture of support throughout all our franchise locations for this worthwhile cause of helping cancer patients. Our core expertise in cleaning enables us to contribute meaningfully to this cause.”
Supporting Patients Made Easier
Partnering with companies like Two Maids is just a fraction of the work needed to provide clean homes for cancer patients. A significant part of the donations come from people who fund raise for the cause. Cleaning for a Reason continues to find ways to make donating and fundraising easier for the public, including the charity’s new Fundraiser in a Box system.
When you set up a fundraiser with Cleaning for a Reason, you’ll have access to a user-friendly platform that makes it easy to customize your campaign and track your progress. In just a few clicks, you’ll support a nonprofit that has helped tens of thousands of cancer patients.
The platform is broken down into three simple steps. The first step is choosing how to gather donations—whether through a charity walk or race, a silent auction, or however you choose to fundraise. Next, you can set up your fundraiser on the Cleaning for a Reason website. Lastly, you can download the Fundraiser in a Box, which offers templates and resources to guide you through the process of raising funds and collecting donations.
Cleaning for Those in Need
Cleaning for a Reason gives a sense of hope to families battling cancer. It allows patients to have one less burden to worry about, while also allowing their families to spend more time with them and less time cleaning. Through partnerships with companies like Two Maids and campaigns like Fundraiser in a Box, more families are helped each day, and the mission behind Cleaning for a Reason lives on.
