Debbie Sardone started her business, Buckets & Bows Maid Service, from the trunk of her car. Now it’s one of the largest privately-owned cleaning companies in America. When a prospective client told Sardone she couldn’t afford her services due to the cancer treatment she was undergoing, “The Maid Coach” started Cleaning for a Reason, a nonprofit to help cancer patients access free home cleaning. Since its founding in 2006, Sardone’s organization has worked with more than 60,000 patients, received more than $20 million in donated cleanings and partnered with 1,400 cleaning companies.
