NATIONAL CLEANING FOR A REASON WEEK, APRIL 18-24
Orlando, FL– April 18, 2020 – Covenant Cleaning Services has been donating cleaning services to local cancer patients for the past 13 years through their partnership with nonprofit Cleaning for a Reason. Since 2007, Covenant Cleaning Services has supported a total of 84 cancer patients with a donated value of $26,839 in cleanings. Owner Shelley Powell wants to bring heightened awareness of the cause to the area during Cleaning for a Reason Week, April 18-24. The goal is to help more households battling any type of cancer to receive the gift of a clean home.
“I was at the very first luncheon hosted by Cleaning for a Reason founder Debbie Sardone at a cleaning convention in 2007,” recalled Powell. “She invited maid services to join her in helping cancer patients. I loved the concept immediately and knew I had to jump on board! The first patient that I had the honor to clean for shared her embarrassment of having family or friends over due to the condition of her home. A clean, tidy home made a huge difference for her and her family. My mind floods with memories of other families, some who conquered the beast and some who battled well and lost. Knowing that the time is well spent keeps me motivated to serve the community through Cleaning for a Reason.”
Said Powell, “During this coronavirus pandemic, we are also all about maximizing safety and minimizing risk for our clients, especially the cancer patients. Practices that we have put in place include taking staff temperatures daily, using EPA registered germicide to sanitize, wearing masks and gloves, disinfecting equipment and supplies between cleanings, and practicing workplace social distancing by staggering employee arrival times with equipment sanitized and ready to go.”
Through their partnership with Cleaning for a Reason, Covenant Cleaning Services cleans three homes per month for two consecutive months free of charge. This is an ongoing service to cancer patients residing in the Central Orlando area of Orange County.
